Proposal as to how to expand/broaden audience/increase sales

A music video or song video is a short film integrating a song and imagery, produced for promotional or artistic purposes.[1] Modern music videos are primarily made and used as a marketing device intended to promote the sale of music recordings. Although the origins of music videos date back much further, they came into prominence in the 1980s, when MTV based their format around the medium. Prior to the 1980s, these works were described by various terms including "illustrated song", "filmed insert", "promotional (promo) film", "promotional clip", "song video", "song clip" or "film clip".

Looking at some of the most successful music videos, they all seem to be on all the available music videos players. The reason for this is because they reach out to a lot of places and it is easily available. Youtube has been one of the most successful place for a music video to be uploaded. At a time music videos were only available on music T.V. channels like, MTV. Nowadays, smart phones are present with youtube apps. This makes it more available to everyone as they are all online and can access it easily. To appeal to a variety of audiences you have to make t the music video available to every place that allows music videos to be seen.

Day3 of filming

Filming today was once again a success. We managed to get hold of the equipment needed and the room we wanted to use for our music video but however we ran out of time to do a lot of filming but however we got a bit done.

Potential problems and how to overcome these problems:

Potential problems and how to overcome these problems:

There are a few problems we could face during the filming process of our music video, and explaining how we can overcome these issues. here are some of the problems we cold face:

  • The room- The room we are planing on using to film is a also used for lessons, so we will be given set times to use this room as it may be needed for other things, so we need to make sure we film in time as the room is used on a schedule process.
  • We need to film our music video to a high standard however as soon as possible because if one of our team members become ill we may have to begin filming again using a new character for the position they previously had.
  • If we are filming outside scenes we need to make sure that we can try and get the same scenario each time, so if we film one day and it is sunny, we nee to make sure we film again on a day were it is sunny rather than raining as it may not look like the music video was filmed in the same day.

Filming at:

We would be filming at Robert clack music studio as our stage for the band
Another place we would be filming at is at Michael mature house for the scene with the argument with the guy and his female.  A further location would be a café. This will be the scene when the guy sees his girl friend with another male.

Solutions:

There are particular things in which my group and I should take when going out to film. If we were going to film at the side of the road, a solution would be that we should not film on the road. Before using the café and filming, we would need to have permission.  We also need to make sure that the area is safe if it wasn’t we would make sure that we have contact to parents and on site services.

Analysis of audience research- Survey monkey analysis

From the above survey monkey research data, it shows that young people mostly watch their music videos on youtube.

The surtvey shows that a lot of young people watch music videos and most importantly enjoy the indie genre. This therefore shows us and reassures us that our music video is very likely to be successful in terms of our target audience.

First day of filming

Our first day of filming went okay. although the original plan for the day was to start filming the actual scenes of the music video but however, due to the unavailability of certain members of the team as well as the location (media classroom) being occupied, we couldnt film the part of our video in which we originally planned to film. Therefore as  a group we decided to not sit back and we went out on the streets and filmed some scenery, which was of cars passing by. We filmed more than one take of the cars driving by in other for us to be able to choose the best cars/ shots in which we would like to include into the music video itself.
After that bit of filming, we went back into the classroom and connected the HD camera into the pc and uploaded what we filmed onto final cut express. Then we cut out some irrelevant bits of the clip and saved the rest.
