Vox pops

"VOX POPS"
  • populi (Latin)- voice of the people
  • Usually the interviewees are shown in public places and are supposed to be giving spontaneous opinions in a chance encounter
  • Vox pops are often used on news programmes to show ' Balance'.
  • 'Opinions was divided on the streets'....
"VOX POPS"

  • Each person is asked the same question, the aim is to get a variety of answers and opinions on any given subject
  • Journalists are usually instructed to approach a wide range of people to get varied answers from different points of view
Examples>>>>

Like all good Media.....
  • Our "Vox pops" will be "staged"
  • Everyone needs to prepare to answer the following questions;
  • Do you watch a music video?
  • What is your favourite music video?
  • What makes a great music video?
  • Where do you watch Music videos?
After learning about what Vox pops is about in lesson, we then had to carry out a task which was to;
  • Record your interviewer asking the questions straight into the camera and giving them a seductive look
  • Record your interviewer asking the question at least one person while staring deep into their eyes
  • Record at least 5 different people answering random questions.
When we finish the interviews, we then had to;

  • Edit the video
  • In the editing process we had to make the vox pops brief and to the point
  • Add a title at the beginning of the sequence
  • Add captions identifying each participant- only use first names and possible age and occupation
